Did you have a nice New Years celebration? I certainly did, and I’m actually quite excited that 2018 has begun. I’m going to do a Goodreads Reading Challenge again this year. If you’ve seen my latest video ‘My reading year’ you know that 2017 wasn’t a great year reading wise. That’s why I’ve set my reading goals at 30 this year, instead of 50. I doubted if I should do a Reading Challenge at all, but there’s just something about setting a goal at the beginning of the year. So this is my midway solution. I don’t want to put to much pressure on myself, reading should be fun right not a task?! 30 is probably a more realistic goal so I really hope that I’ll manage to do that this year.
Something I like to do at the beginning of a new year is looking through all the new releases that are going to come out. I have to say this year there aren’t too many yet that I’m really excited for. I guess that’s because there are loads of books coming out that are a part 2 or 3 in a series. Serie that I haven’t read yet, so I can’t really be excited for those. So what’s left are 4 books that I really want to read. But I’m sure this list will grow as the year progresses.
The first one I really want to read is Everless by Sara Holland, which is coming out on the 4th of January. Really soon! I’ve seen this book on Bookstagram loads already and I’ve heard great things. To be honest, the cover is also a persuading factor for me, it’s just gorgeous! Also, Sara Holland is actually coming to The Netherlands this year, in April we’ve got YALFest, which is a bookish festival that takes place every year. Previous years we’ve had authors like Tahereh Mafi, Ransom Riggs, Stephanie Perkins, David Arnold and many more. This year Sara Holland is one of the authors and I’m really excited to meet her. So I better like the book! I think I will.
I’m also really excited for The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. Another book that has been going around Bookstagram for quite some time. And again the cover is really gorgeous. But what interests me the most is that the book sounds really mysterious. I feel like the blurb is quite vague, but I actually kinda like that. I hope this book, that will come out on the 30th of January, is really going to surprise me and is going to be different from any other book.
The next one is Still Me by Jojo Moyes, that will be published on the 30th of January. This is actually the third book in the Me Before You series, which was originally never supposed to be a series I believe. Me Before You is one of my favourite books ever, I didn’t really like the film, but the book is incredible! The second book was also very nice. Maybe not as good as the first one but still. I really hope that the third book is going to be surprising. I can’t wait to read more about Louisa.
The final book I’m dying to read is Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. Another originally not planned book. This is the fourth book in the Touching Juliette series – which used to be a trilogy… I absolutely loved the first three books and I can’t wait to dive back into this world. I do think that I have to reread the books or at least read a summary because it has been a couple of years since I’ve read these books. Restore Me will be released on the 6th of March.

Those are the book I’m really looking forward too this year, do let me know which new releases are on top of your list and if you’re going to be doing a Reading Challende this year. I’d love to know!
